R. C. & M. SPRINGBAK KENNELS, situated 20 minutes from downtown Calgary, over-looking the
Foothills, was designed and built with the health and comfort of your pet in mind.
We care for only a limited number of pets, as we have 48 individual indoor-outdoor dog runs and 18 indoor cat accomodations. This enabled us to give the individual care and attention necessary for maintenance of both physical and mental well-being.
The indoor kennel area is heated by two 126,000 B.T.U. forced air furnaces.
Every two dog kennel areas are supplied with fresh air and heat from their own register. The individual indoor kennels are 3'6" wide, 5'4" long and 7'6" high, divided by cement block walls to help prevent contamination from pet to pet. Each kennel room is equipped with a 3' by 4' raised bed for the comfort and warmth of your pet. These beds fold up to facilitate daily cleaning and disinfecting from floor to ceiling with a high pressure, hot water disinfectant system.
There is music in the kennel 24 hours a day to provide company for your animal.
Accessible from each dog's indoor kennel is a 3'6" by 15' outdoor covered run. These runs are also separated from each other by a 4' cement block wall topped with welded wire to the roof - again to prevent cross-contamination. Your dog will soon learn to use his swinging door for free access in and out. The outdoor runs are also cleaned and disinfected daily.
Our kennel uses only welded wire to prevent the catching and pinching of toes and nails. The entire kennel area is surrounded by a 6'6" high solid board fence to provide maximum security for your pet.
We have several brands of dry dog food available over which we pour beef broth for increased palatability. If your dog is on a special diet, arrangements can be made to accommodate him. All food and water dishes are stainless steel and are soaked in disinfectant solution and washed in hot, soapy water daily.
Cats are accommodated in a separate area away from the dogs. Each kennel is 2' wide, 2' high and is disinfected with our high pressure cleaning system after each guest. The kennels and personal litter boxes are cleaned daily. While this is being done each cat has the freedom of the cattery for exercise.
THE RULES OF OUR KENNEL ARE FEW BUT FIRM:
· Pets must have their vaccinations up to date (as recommended by the Alberta Veterinary Medial Association). NO pets will be accepted without a veterinary certificate certifying this.
· All male cats over the age of 6 months must be neutered.
· You will be required to fill out a detailed information form on your pet, giving name, age, gender, preference of food, your pet's own veterinarian and other pertinent information.
· Emergency veterinary care will be provided if your veterinarian is not available.
